Andre Salmon

Ecuadorian music producer Alex Salmon joins us to share his top five tracks, following his recent release on Riva Starr’s Wow! Recordings

DJ, Producer and Sound Engineer, Andre Salmon is a man that’s really making movements in his native country in South America. And now he’s quickly expanding his sound beyond Ecuador towards Europe with releases on the likes of Suara, VIVa Music, Get Physical, Leftroom, Repopulate Mars and most recently Hot Creations; all demonstrating why he’s now being considered an iconic part of the recent Ecuadorian music scene.

Andre Salmon is the owner of four record labels, Anima Somnis, Maniacs, Ouch! and Sagmen, an imprint he co-founded alongside his brother. Much like his own musical demeanor these labels delve into a range of styles, from the dark and underground textures on Anima Somnis through to Indie-Rock releases on Maniacs.

Andre Salmon’s ‘Daddys Little Girl’ EP is available now via Beatport

1. Robert Hood – Who Taught You Math? [Freak N Chic]

This is one of my top artists and one of my top labels ever, this guy is a killer! Every single, song, release, remix, tune, EP that he brings to the world is just AMAZING! This is one of my favourite productions ever by him, it has a super ‘housy’ vibe with a lil techy-minimalistic groove”

2. Flug – 1k (Ghetto Jack remix) [Truncate]

“There is almost nothing to say about Flug, his music talks already! I’m a super fan of him and his back-catalogue and this tune is one of my favourites of all time! Big massive claps and straight cuts with vocals that destroy your head on the dancefloor!”

3. Jamie Jones – Snake Pit [Crosstown Rebels]

“For me this is one of the best songs ever by my big mate Jamie Jones. His vibe is so solid and hypnotic on the dancefloor, the way he used to produce in that time was just amazing, he used to be one of my big inspirations. He also has many more master pieces but this is my fave alongside ‘It’s Scary Down Here’, released on one of my favourite labels ever, Freak N Chic!”

4. Heiko Laux & Steve Rachmad – The Viking [Soma Records]

Another artist I’m a big fan of is Heiko Laux, and this collaboration with Steve Rachmad is just fantastic. This is one of my secret weapons I keep at the ready at my gigs!”

5. Andre Salmon – Da Thing [Sagmen]

“Well this song is one of my favourite tracks ever I made, and that’s why I decided to make the debut from this tune on my new vinyl label with my friend Aert Prog ‘SAGMEN’.  This track is pure energy, the basslines are super groovy and the breakdowns will bring you back in time with the old school synths! Super crazy vibes! This song also features my voice saying ‘TELL ME SOMETHING ABOUT YOU THAT I DON’T KNOW, I KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT YOU THAT YOU DON’T KNOW'”
